Our commitment
Since our founding, we have been dedicated to creating mobiles that bring a sense of movement and balance — while being made with care for people, society, and the environment.

Environmental responsibility

From people
to people.

We work continuously to reduce our environmental footprint. A key part of this is our production model: instead of requiring 60 employees to commute daily, our mobile-assemblers work from home — which is why we call them "homeworkers".

Every second week, we deliver raw materials and collect the finished, packaged mobiles, which are then transported to Frederiksminde, our family home, from where we send them out to all corners of the earth. This way of working has been part of Flensted Mobiles for more than 70 years and reduces environmental impact by saving several tons of fuel annually.

The story of our homeworkers began out of necessity in the 1950s: when Christian and Grethe Flensted could no longer keep up with demand, they asked a neighbour for help assembling their mobiles. This first step grew into the home-based production model we still rely on today.

We strive to make thoughtful choices when it comes to materials and packaging. Whenever possible, we prioritise durable materials and continuously evaluate how to reduce waste and unnecessary resource consumption — in both production and shipping.

Flensted Mobile
3 generations
Quality, longevity and timeless design

Design that
lasts.

We design for longevity. Materials are carefully selected with durability and long product lifetimes in mind. Many of our mobiles are passed down through generations — we regularly hear from customers who have inherited them from parents or grandparents.

We believe that good design should last — both aesthetically and physically. Rather than following short-lived trends, we strive to create timeless mobiles designed to remain relevant and meaningful across generations.

Unlike many companies, we do not work with changing seasonal collections or fast-moving trends. Several of our mobiles, including designs created in 1953 and 1956, are still part of our collection and continue to be produced today. We see this as a sign that design does not have to be temporary in order to remain relevant.

We support long product lifespans through our "mobile hospital," where we repair mobiles with sentimental value. Rather than promoting a replace-and-discard mindset, we help customers keep and repair their mobiles — guiding them on how to resolve issues themselves, such as untangling a mobile, whenever possible.

Worth preserving

We repair mobiles that hold special meaning and sentimental value. We would much rather help people preserve what they already have than encourage them to buy new.

We often guide customers in resolving issues themselves — for example, how to untangle a mobile after a fall. It takes time, but we believe that time is well spent. It is also a mark of respect for our homeworkers, who put care and heart into making each mobile.

Responsible production

Hands, homes
and hearts.

We are committed to responsible working conditions throughout our value chain. Our home-based production model allows for flexibility and supports a balanced working life, while we maintain fair practices, safe conditions, and respect for human rights.

We value long-term relationships and have worked with our suppliers and homeworkers for many years. Several of our homeworkers have been part of our production for more than 20 years.

01

Flexibility & freedom

Our home-based model gives homeworkers flexibility and the possibility to organise their work around family life and personal routines — while we maintain fair practices and respect for people.

02

Presence & immersion

For many, the careful and repetitive process of assembling mobiles creates moments of calm, focus, and mindfulness in everyday life — a quiet energy in the act of making something by hand.

03

Calm & community

Homeworkers often work side by side with their spouses — using the time spent making mobiles to connect, talk, and share quiet moments together.

For many, assembling mobiles is not just a job — it is also a calm and meaningful part of everyday life.

Danish production, local roots and heritage

From Funen
to the world.

We value close and long-term relationships with our suppliers and partners, many of whom are based in Denmark. Working with local and trusted suppliers allows us to maintain a close dialogue, ensure consistent quality, and support responsible production practices.

Flensted Mobiles is deeply rooted in Danish design and craftsmanship traditions. Many parts of our production process are still carried out by hand, reflecting a careful and detail-oriented approach that has been part of our company since the very beginning. By continuing to produce in Denmark, we support local craftsmanship and preserve knowledge and traditions that might otherwise disappear over time.

We continue to operate from our family home, Frederiksminde, in the countryside on Funen. Staying here is a deliberate choice — it keeps us connected to our history and to the community around us. We are also part of our local cultural life and support music and art associations in the area.

Danish craftsmanship

We choose to keep our production local and to maintain as many processes as possible by hand — because we believe it can be felt when something is made with care by human hands.

Local roots

We believe in producing in Denmark and in the quality that comes when things are allowed to take the time they require. Our roots are our strength.

Community & culture

We are part of our local cultural life and support music and art associations in the area. Responsibility does not stop at the factory gate.

An ongoing process
CSR is not a fixed point, but an ongoing process — a commitment we continue to develop and improve over time.

We continue to evaluate and improve our practices and partnerships in order to reduce our environmental impact and strengthen our social responsibility — with the ambition of remaining a responsible and forward-looking company.
