Danish craft through three generations
Since 1953, when Christian Flensted created our very first mobile for his daughter’s christening, craftsmanship and playfulness have lived within us - passed down from one generation to the next. First to his son Ole, and later to his granddaughter Christine - each with their own voice, yet united by the same love for our light and playful craft. Today, we continue to build on the foundation he built, with a deep respect for quality, a pride in Danish craftsmanship, and a desire to create joy through movement. Just as our mobiles are always in motion, our craft continues to evolve - carried forward with care, heart, and imagination, generation after generation.
Our mobiles have been handmade in Denmark since 1953 - Inspired by the movement of nature, Christian Flensted’s playful approach and born from the same design tradition that gave us the PH lamp and The Egg. All our mobiles are rooted in the Danish design tradition, where form and function go hand in hand and where aesthetics emerge from the balance between minimalism, quality and craftsmanship. For us, it's not about impressing, but about creating moments of calm and presence - moments that connect us to the rhythm of the world around us. Because we believe that good design doesn't have to be explained - it has to be felt.

For us, movement is not just about physics - it’s about imagination. About letting thoughts drift, and making room for the unexpected. Our mobiles are born from a love of the playful, the whimsical, and the imaginative. They are created to move - not only in the homes they become a part of, but within us. Because to us, imagination is not something we outgrow - it’s something we grow with. And in our universe, even the wildest ideas are free to float and move - quite literally.
Since 1972, Flensted Mobiles has been based in an old yellow school building in Brenderup, on the island of Funen. Surrounded by golden rapeseed fields and pockets of green woodland, a special kind of calm emerges here - a balance between the outer landscape and the inner life. Our mobiles are created with this very balance in mind. They remind us to pause for a moment, to find stillness, and to reconnect with ourselves and the present. Our mobiles do not move quickly or forcefully - they move gently, dancing with the air around them. A visual pause that brings harmony to a busy world. At Flensted Mobiles, we believe that balance in life begins with the small things. That is why each mobile is still made by hand - with time, care, and respect for detail. Because in the gentle movement, in the light suspension, lies a quiet reminder: Balance is not something to chase, it is something we shape.
