Hans Christian Andersen paper cut-outs

697 Man In The Moon

The title of this simple yet beautiful moon figure is from one of the poet’s vaudevilles “Love at Nicolai Taarn”. On the cutout is written “Casta Diva!”, which stems from the main aria in Bellini’s opera “Norma”. The original cutout exists in one of the picture books for Agnete Lind (Daughter of Louise Lind, born Collin).

As silhouette cutter Hans Christian Andersen is the life of the party, and the celebrated guest of the gentry and the intellectuals of his days.

Hans Christian Andersen always brought his 24 cm long pair of scissors, and he amused himself and others by deftly cutting silhouettes.
